Q-7: I got married to a boy whom I loved a lot.  After two years of my marriage, he got married to another girl without disclosing it to me. My husband's cousin informed me about his second marriage.  On protesting that issue, he divorced me. I came back to my parents. Here every body made me recalled my past by criticizing my decision to marry him. I could not sleep well and remained tense. To overcome my apprehension, I used medicine and still I am using it. My friend told me that the daily use of medicine is a type of addiction.  How can I come back to life? Hira - Karachi

A :  Indeed, life is not easy as we expect. Sometimes, we have to endure severe emotional pain due to others, as you faced. Neither we can change other nor are we able to stop people from mistreating us. The only thing we can do is to recover from the pain as soon as possible to live again. First of all, you accept yourself, your fate and take that incident as a life experience to learn a lesson from it.  You make other realize that you are still something and will not die for a man who is a cheater.  You took a decision and now you are ready to accept the responsibility.  Many people around you would have made mistakes, even major blunders. You are a faithful, honest and brave lady who endured everything. Once you realize your importance, give respect to yourself, others will automatically notice your importance and qualities. Engage yourself in activities to make you relaxed and self -dependent. You can also consult psychotherapist for your emotional problems that will diminish the need of taking medicine.  Learn from past and go ahead. Allah will help you.  DFN
